WEEK 1 - SATURDAY / CHIE (night, shortly before curfew, room 108)
[ The thing about Seto Kaiba? He's always had anger simmering underneath his skin, and while it's taken some effort for it to surface over the course of the day, right now, it's mutated to something akin to fury.
Nothing about this is right (nevermind that this entire situation is hitting too close to home - wasn't it not too long ago that he had put Yugi Mutou and his friends into an elaborate death trap designed to kill them one by one?) and they've-- no, he, because of that damned voting slip-- sentenced Hana to die sometime tomorrow.
Someone else will have to kill her.
When Chie walks into their shared room just before curfew, his white duster is laid out on his bed, he hasn't made an effort to change out yet - he's driven his fist into the plaster of one of the walls in sheer frustration - his knuckles are bruised, probably bleeding but the pain isn't registering.
When he realises that Chie is in the room, he'll withdraw his fists. Make a visible effort to calm down. ]

We fucked up.
[then she walks over to her bed, on the other side of the room, and begins to cry as she collapses onto it. it's not sobbing out of sadness, nor is it the realization of the pain; it's a raw expression of disappointment, of failure, of fury.
where seto calms down, chie does not.]
What the fuck is this place?

When he speaks, it's quiet, and it belies his fury, his outrage, like he's even loath to admit what this is supposed to be. ]
I don't know.
[ Because he really doesn't. What kind of place-- no, he knows this kind of place is like Death-T, to a certain extent, an elaborate death trap designed to whittle down the unworthy, but even at his worst, even at his most amoral, he's never forced people to kill each other.
It's a whole new low that even he himself hasn't even sunk to.
A sideways glance at Chie is enough for him to get from where he's standing, to open the drawer by his bed where he's stashed the items his acquired from the raid on the town this past week. He withdraws a roll of bandages and scissors and hands it to Chie. ]
For your legs.

once she gets her initial anguished cry out, she lets her shoulders slump, but her hands are still tightly gripping the side of her bed, her knuckles turning white. she's shaking when seto offers her the bandages, to which she responds by turning her face away from him. she's painfully stubborn like that.]
Save it. This is nothing. Just... just in case something worse happens to you.

Seto nods, and keeps the supplies back in the drawer.
There's a moment of strained silence, just the both of them seething for their own respective reasons. ]
When it happens again-- [ Because he's definitely not naive enough to think that this won't repeat itself next week, not when the rulebook and Craftly both indicate that people are going to die every week. ] --the least we can do is to ensure that no more innocents are sacrificed.

her voice is low as she says,]
We need to get rid of the ghost.
[she'd been so gung ho this whole time about not stooping to murder like this whole setup was trying to get them to do, but... she feels in this case, blood must be paid for blood.
how hypocritical, she thinks in the back of her mind, but she's beyond rational thinking right now. she was never this angry when she and her friends had been pursuing adachi, but whoever the ghost is went and made it even more personal than even he had.]

He's not expecting that from her.
Seto himself is no stranger to holding grudges, or killing people who deserve it. Gozaburo was one. The Ghost is another. ]
Hn. That would entail having to find The Ghost first.
[ A little difficult, at this juncture, when they have nothing but speculation to go on. He himself doesn't want to reveal his role too early in the game if it means the difference between life and death. ]
